Q. Is dairy acidic and bad for your bones?
We here at the Center for Better Bones believe dairy can be a very good food if you digest it well. All proteins are acidic, but dairy is only slightly acidic. It is not as acid forming as many other high protein foods such as meat or beans. Many cultures appreciate dairy and it contributes greatly to their diet. With that being said, the main issue we run into is that many of our digestive systems are weak. So, instead of completely avoiding dairy because of its slight acid load, you may want to look into correcting your digestion.
Listen to Dr. Brown explain why balance is important and why we shouldn’t completely avoid or rely on dairy. She goes on to describe these top 7 nutrients as essential for healthy bone development and maintenance.
