What Is the Latest on Dairy and Bone Health? (+Video)

Q. What is the latest on dairy and bone health?

If you are not sensitive to dairy and digest it well, it is a great food. It is not only high in certain minerals like calcium, but high in protein too. What studies have recently shown, though, is that the need for calcium has been overstated. Cultures that take in small amounts of calcium do not necessarily have more osteoporosis. These studies explain that if you are very deficient in calcium, milk might help, but you should not rely on it to be a solution to your bone health.

Listen to Dr. Brown reveal what the government reports as the amount of calcium you should be consuming from diet and supplements. For more information about calcium and its role in bone health, read our blog,  The Calcium Myth.
