Diet-induced, chronic low-grade metabolic acidosis damages bone. The Alkaline for
Life® pH Test Kit is a great way to test if your current diet leaves you in
low-grade metabolic acidosis, or if it provides for an internal alkaline balance
favorable to bone health. This favorable balance is produced by what we call an
“alkaline diet.”
An alkaline diet is important for optimum bone health. Just as acid rain in the
environment damages our external ecosystem, so does internal acidity damage our
internal ecosystem. Without knowing it, most of us consume diets high in metabolically
acid-forming foods. This results in chronic, low-grade acidosis. Precious alkali
salts of bone building minerals must be taken from bone and used for buffering these
internal acids. Because of this, we encourage an alkaline diet high in foods such
as fruits, vegetables, nuts, spices, herbs, seasoning, seeds and pulses such as
lentils.
