Endocrine system and bone health
Promote endocrine health Test the success of your bone strengthening program Use osteoporosis medications as necessary Enhance immunity Promote endocrine health Exercise into bone health Develop an alkaline diet Build digestive strength Minimize anti-nutrient intake Maximize nutrient intake Overview of the Better Bones Better Body 9 Step Program

The endocrine system health is very for bone. Generally we think of the ovaries and their hormones, estrogen and progesterone, as the most important endocrine factors influencing bone health. In truth, bone health depends on proper functioning of all the hormone-producing endocrine glands. Over or under-functioning of the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenals, liver and kidneys can all adversely effect bone. Medications which affect the endocrine system can make trouble for bone. For example, too high a of dose of thyroid hormone causes bone loss. Furthermore, nearly 20% of osteoporosis in the US is attributed to the use of steroid drugs like Prednisone®.

In our book, Better Bones, Better Body, we fully detail why and how to build endocrine system health. For starters, the entire endocrine system will benefit from increasing all essential nutrients, reducing anti-nutrients and incorporating meditation and/or stress reduction techniques into your daily routine. A second important step is to stabilize blood sugar. For more on this see our discussion of blood sugar. Meditation and stress reduction harmonize the nervous system and build endocrine system strength.
